cybernetic missiles

My favorite book ever is Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz.

“Cybernetics” is the study of goal-seeking systems.

A guided missile is a cybernetic system.

So is the Terminator.

The human mind is also cybernetic.

The book describes how humans seek goals - hence the name “Psycho”-Cybernetics.

For a system to be cybernetic, it must:

1. Be able to accept a goal

2. Have sensors

3. Have a propulsion system

4. Have a correcting device

5. Have some form of memory

This is the recipe for hitting targets through constant course correction.

When a guided missile goes off path, the sensors tell the fins: “this is bad.”

This is negative feedback. The fins adjust to go the other way.

The cycle repeats. The missile continues to “zig-zag” its way to the target.

Humans work the same. But different.

For instance, a missile’s computer understands numbers.

It “accepts” its goal when you punch in the coordinates of the bad guy.

The human mind understands images. It accepts its goal through visualization.

Like a computer, the mind accepts a goal whether good or bad.

The guidance system is indifferent.

This is why “worry” is unhelpful.

It's negative visualization.

You’re setting the coordinates for the thing you don’t want.

Instead, you should “worry” about the things you DO want.

Write down your ideal future with your 8-pack abs and lovely wife.

Make it weirdly vivid in your mind.

Think about it every day. Dwell on it.

This is how you set strong coordinates in your meat GPS.

This ain't woo-woo. It's rocket science.

The more accurate your coordinates, the more tuned your sensors will become.

When you vear off-path, you will know.

You will experience cognitive dissonance. It will be uncomfortable.

Fucking around doesn’t feel good when you’re on a mission.

And yes, you will go off track.

Not to fear. This is how the system works.

Keep the target in mind.

Trust that you are the OG biological guided missile.

You have the hardware. You just have the program it right.
