Today I wanted to share a ‘lil somethin’ I added to my business to make customers love us more and stay longer.
We now send each new client a welcome box after they sign up.

box
Now I’ll make my case for why you should have a box too.
To give you some context, my business helps medical spa owners grow by teaching them how to set up powerful marketing campaigns.
We’re similar to a marketing agency, except we “teach them how to fish” instead of fishing for them.
One of the hardest parts about this business is getting people to PARTICIPATE.
If you have a coaching, consulting, or agency business, you know what I mean.
If you don’t, you still probably need a box. Just keep reading.
See, when someone buys your thing, they still need to use it.
If they don’t use it, they won’t buy it again or refer their friends. They may even ask for a refund.
This is why you should obsess about customer onboarding & activation.
Most businesses suck at this.
They assume the customer cares enough to use their product/service as intended.
Instead, you should assume each new buyer is incredibly lazy and jaded.
Even after the sale is made, you must continue to win them over.
One way to do this is to send an unexpected box.
Marketing legend Dan Kennedy calls this a “Shock & Awe” Box.
A Shock & Awe Box accomplishes 2 main things:
It delights customers and makes your business stand out.
It gives you a chance to educate your buyers so they get better results.
This works for all types of businesses, including wealth management, law firms, accountants, real estate agents, luxury travel & concierge, gyms, wellness clinics, and more.
Here’s what’s in our box:
Personalized hand-written note. Should NOT be typed. You can have people or machines write these notes for you.
Branded Yeti mug. (Can’t go wrong with this.)
Ringlight. Our clients use these a lot.
A Moleskin for taking down notes.
A booklet showing people how to use our program.
The booklet is the most important piece.
We include 3 and instruct clients to leave them in their break room so staff read them during lunch.
If you want a template for this booklet, you can access the Canva file HERE.
A good booklet should have:
Sales copy RESELLING people on your offering.
Easy-to-digest educational content to help get better results.
Testimonials and case studies to further resell buyers and get them pumped up.
Now go forth and make a box for your business. It’s a fun project and you’ll make more money. 🤑
